{"id":1452,"date":"2020-01-23T11:00:37","date_gmt":"2020-01-23T10:00:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/laboragora.com\/?p=1452"},"modified":"2021-04-30T10:43:47","modified_gmt":"2021-04-30T08:43:47","slug":"discriminer-sans-sen-rendre-compte","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/laboragora.com\/index.php\/2020\/01\/23\/discriminer-sans-sen-rendre-compte\/","title":{"rendered":"Discriminer sans s&rsquo;en rendre compte"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p><strong>\u00ab&nbsp;Aujourd\u2019hui, j\u2019ai discrimin\u00e9&nbsp;\u00bb<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Cette phrase, nous pourrions tou.te.s la dire r\u00e9guli\u00e8rement.\nLa discrimination n\u2019est pas seulement l\u2019affaire de quelques x\u00e9nophobes,\nhomophobes, etc. C\u2019est notre affaire \u00e0 tou.te.s, car nous discriminons quotidiennement,\nsans nous en rendre compte.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Aujourd\u2019hui, je vous propose de prendre conscience de ce ph\u00e9nom\u00e8ne, gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 deux \u00e9tudes scientifiques. La premi\u00e8re<sup>1<\/sup> est une exp\u00e9rience en laboratoire, tandis que la deuxi\u00e8me<sup>2<\/sup> fait directement \u00e9cho \u00e0 notre vie quotidienne.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Discriminer, est-ce normal&nbsp;?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>La premi\u00e8re \u00e9tude<sup>1<\/sup> est un classique de la psychologie sociale. Elle utilise des groupes minimaux, c\u2019est-\u00e0-dire des groupes cr\u00e9\u00e9s de toutes pi\u00e8ces pour l\u2019exp\u00e9rience, sur des crit\u00e8res arbitraires.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">D\u00e9roulement<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>(1)<\/strong> Les participant.e.s de l\u2019exp\u00e9rience donnent leur avis sur des tableaux de Paul Klee et de Vassily Kandinsky. Les participant.e.s sont ensuite r\u00e9partis en deux groupes&nbsp;: ceux et celles qui pr\u00e9f\u00e8rent Klee, et ceux et celles qui pr\u00e9f\u00e8rent Kandinsky.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>En r\u00e9alit\u00e9, la r\u00e9partition est totalement al\u00e9atoire. Cette\nphase sert juste \u00e0 justifier l\u2019existence de groupes distincts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>(2)<\/strong> Ensuite, chaque participant.e doit r\u00e9partir des r\u00e9compenses \u00e0 l\u2019aide d\u2019une matrice, comme celle pr\u00e9sent\u00e9e ci-dessous. En choisissant une valeur pour son groupe, chaque participant.e choisie automatiquement la valeur que gagnera l\u2019autre groupe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/laboragora.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/Matrice-PGM-1024x245.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1454\" width=\"700\" height=\"184\"\/><figcaption><em>Exemple de matrice utilis\u00e9e par les scientifiques dans le paradigme des groupes minimaux.<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">R\u00e9sultats<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Les participant.e.s cherchent \u00e0 favoriser autant que\npossible leur propre groupe par rapport \u00e0 l\u2019autre groupe, m\u00eame si cela suppose\nde ne pas avoir la r\u00e9compense maximale pour soi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Par exemple, nous tendons \u00e0 pr\u00e9f\u00e9rer le choix A au choix B,\nsur l\u2019image ci-dessus. Avec le choix A, la diff\u00e9rence est maximale, \u00e0 notre\navantage (11 \u2013 5 = 6). Pourtant, le choix B nous aurait octroy\u00e9 une meilleure\nr\u00e9compense brute (23).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Cette exp\u00e9rience montre que la discrimination n\u2019a pas besoin\nde grand-chose pour apparaitre. Ici, les groupes sont totalement artificiels et\nal\u00e9atoires. Pourtant, le simple fait de voir une diff\u00e9rence entre\n\u00ab&nbsp;nous&nbsp;\u00bb et \u00ab&nbsp;eux&nbsp;\u00bb suffit \u00e0 faire \u00e9merger des\ncomportements discriminatoires.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Cette exp\u00e9rience a \u00e9t\u00e9 men\u00e9e de nombreuses fois, dans des conditions vari\u00e9es<sup>3<\/sup>. La mani\u00e8re avec laquelle nous nous adressons \u00e0 notre destinataire d\u00e9pend de l\u2019identit\u00e9 de ce dernier.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">D\u00e9roulement<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Il est demand\u00e9 aux participant.e.s de r\u00e9diger une lettre \u00e0\nl\u2019intention d\u2019un destinataire. Le nom de ce dernier varie al\u00e9atoirement. Il est\n\u00e0 consonance \u00ab&nbsp;fran\u00e7aise&nbsp;\u00bb, \u00ab&nbsp;juive&nbsp;\u00bb,\n\u00ab&nbsp;africaine&nbsp;\u00bb ou \u00ab&nbsp;portugaise&nbsp;\u00bb.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>L\u2019\u00e9quipe de recherche a ensuite analys\u00e9 le texte des lettres\nen profondeur, gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 diff\u00e9rents indicateurs langagiers. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">R\u00e9sultats<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Des diff\u00e9rences ont \u00e9t\u00e9 remarqu\u00e9es dans la mani\u00e8re d\u2019\u00e9crire\nla lettre. La fa\u00e7on avec laquelle les participant.e.s se sont adress\u00e9s au\ndestinataire \u00ab&nbsp;fran\u00e7ais&nbsp;\u00bb est plus positive qu\u2019avec n\u2019importe quel\nautre destinataire. Les participant.e.s discriminaient leur interlocuteur sans\ns\u2019en rendre compte.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Les auteur.e.s vont plus loin en montrant que, m\u00eame si les\ntrois autres destinataires \u00e9tait discrimin\u00e9s, ils ne l\u2019\u00e9taient pas tous de la\nm\u00eame mani\u00e8re (le destinataire \u00ab&nbsp;juif&nbsp;\u00bb est rejet\u00e9, le destinataire\n\u00ab&nbsp;africain&nbsp;\u00bb est diff\u00e9renci\u00e9, le destinataire \u00ab&nbsp;portugais&nbsp;\u00bb\nest rabaiss\u00e9).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ici, les participant.e.s sont des \u00e9tudiant.e.s en sciences\nhumaines, une population pas franchement r\u00e9put\u00e9e pour ses opinions antis\u00e9mites,\nracistes ou x\u00e9nophobes !<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>L\u2019explication avanc\u00e9e par les chercheur.se.s est que nous\navons d\u00e9velopp\u00e9 des routines sociales. Celles-ci guident nos interactions avec\nles autres au quotidien. Mais, quand l\u2019autre est diff\u00e9rent de ceux et celles\navec qui nous avons l\u2019habitude d\u2019interagir, ces routines perdent leur sens.\nNous sommes alors contraint.e.s de r\u00e9\u00e9valuer la situation pour lui donner une\nr\u00e9ponse sp\u00e9cifique. Nous agissons alors diff\u00e9remment et souvent de mani\u00e8re\nmaladroite et discriminante.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Conclusion<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Ces deux \u00e9tudes montrent que la discrimination est ancr\u00e9e en nous. Elle n\u2019est pas la chasse gard\u00e9e de personnes ouvertement racistes, sexistes, etc., et nous la d\u00e9veloppons d\u00e8s notre plus jeune \u00e2ge<sup>4<\/sup>. Nous avons tou.te.s tendance \u00e0 agir de mani\u00e8re discriminante.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ce constat peut paraitre bien pessimiste. Mais j\u2019ai la conviction que prendre conscience du ph\u00e9nom\u00e8ne permet de mieux le contenir.
